2023 ACE'ing the Spectrum: A 3-Part Series on AAC

This presentation will cover the key principles of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) including an in-depth description of what it is, what current research says about AAC, implementation strategies for AAC, the overall evaluation process and the power of being a parent in selecting a software program/device, and accessing funding for a device.

2. Participants will be able to discuss multiple ways to effectively implement AAC in the home and community environment
3. Participants will become familiar will the overall process of getting a Speech Generating Device (SGD) funded.

Presenter

Protech Medical is a locally owned and operated DME company in TN. They offer pediatric rehabilitation equipment and speech generating devices (also known as augmentative and alternative communication). They have two AAC consultants in TN to support your family and speech therapist throughout the process of receiving an AAC device from initial consultation to delivery day. They will be there every step of the way. Their AAC consultants are ASHA certified speech language pathologists and are passionate about helping patients find their voice through use of augmentative and alternative communication.
